ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES will include the following (but are not limited to):

 

  • Performs supervisory work of moderate difficulty
  • Duties include prioritizing work and scheduling assignments to equipment repair mechanic
  • Enforces the use of required safety equipment and safety procedures
  • Coordinates work schedules with others. Coordinates the use of outside vendors and performs quality control on those vendors
  • Carryout preventative maintenance as outlined by the maintenance manger
  • Correctly diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic problems and expedite its repairs. This classification is a hands-on position
  • Have the ability to supervise others, to prioritize and schedule work, to diagnose equipment problems and make repairs, it read and interprets repair manuals, to records, and to train others in equipment maintenance and repair
  • Perform all tasks in the safest possible manner
  • Maintains good housekeeping
  • Performs 90 day inspection
  • Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed
  • Additional duties as required by manger
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting multiple and sometimes conflicting deadlines
  • Must, at all times, demonstrate cooperative behavior with co-workers, supervisors and management
  • Follow company policies
  • Follow safety procedures

Other duties that are reasonable associated with the above essential functions of the job

WORK HOURS:  Day shift, usually Monday-Saturday. Overtime as needed with or without prior notice.

 

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Ability to safely drive cars, trucks, forklifts, tractors and other moving equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees and supervisor.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in group.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual tasks under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization.
  • Must have some computer knowledge.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • This position requires a minimum of three years experience in farming, food production, and/or distribution.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred, but not required
  • Minimum 5 years experience in supervisory or lead mechanic on shop principles and practices
  • Minimal 5 years experience in the mechanical field

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, policies, procedure manuals and write routine reports and correspondence.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, percentages, and fractions.

 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Works under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager

  

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION:

  • Valid California Drivers License/Class C

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
